Fuel Cells Works, Korea: Coupang Launches Eco-Friendly Hydrogen Truck for Rocket Delivery

Coupang announced on December 23 that it will introduce and operate an eco-friendly hydrogen truck for transportation between delivery facilities for rocket delivery from the new year.

Coupang participated in a ceremony to commemorate the pilot operation of a hydrogen truck at Kintex, Goyang, Gyeonggi Province on December 23rd.

At the commemorative event, logistics companies including Coupang and Hyundai Motor Company, a manufacturer of hydrogen trucks, attended and had time to share their plans and visions for the eco-friendly hydrogen truck pilot project.

Coupang has continued to collaborate with relevant government ministries since signing a business agreement for the hydrogen truck pilot project in May last year.

According to this pilot project, Coupang plans to introduce the eco-friendly hydrogen truck “Xcient” to actual delivery sites, mainly in the Incheon area, through Coupang Logistics Service, a logistics subsidiary.

The Xcient is the world’s first mass-produced large-scale hydrogen truck by Hyundai Motor Company.

Coupang and Coupang Logistics Service plan to secure data to increase the applicability of hydrogen trucks to logistics sites through the results of the pilot operation, and to accumulate know-how in operating eco-friendly vehicles.

Meanwhile, Coupang introduced a special wrapping that newly interpreted its symbol, the rocket logo, on an eco-friendly hydrogen truck for this test vehicle.
