fuel cells works, Port of Marseille Invests €750M in the H2V Hydrogen Project
An unprecedented partnership for a large-scale renewable hydrogen production project!

In a partnership with H2V Fos, the Grand Port Maritime de Marseille (GPMM) is developing a renewable hydrogen production project with a capacity of 600 MW.
“The Port of Marseille Fos is taking part in the capital of the project led by H2V, which aims to decarbonize port areas thanks to a cleaner industry adapted to the needs of the territories”
It will be deployed in the Caban area of Fos-sur-Mer over a total area of 36 ha in six phases from 2026 to 2031 and is associated with the Bassin Sud project of the CSF NSE.
Six production units of 100 MW each will be built at the site, resulting in the generation of 84,000 tons of green hydrogen obtained by electrolysis of water and renewable energy sources every year. According to a press release from the Port of Marseille and H2V Fos, it “will create 165 direct jobs and 100 indirect jobs”. By decarbonizing the activities in the port area of Fos-sur-Mer, the release of 750,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year is avoided.
