For the 2020 anniversary, the “Innovative Life Award” initiated under the patronage of Minister of State Hubert Aiwanger. The Bayern Innovativ jury awarded a total of 25 companies, founders and ideas as particularly outstanding. Proton Motor was able to make it as “Top 25 nominees” with the application submitted for the “Knappenhaus” pilot project.
It is a single-family house in Kasern, the northernmost mountain village in South Tyrol, which was originally designed as a simple mountain hut at 1,500 meters. By integrating the Proton “S8” motor module with an output of 8.4 kW into a new hydrogen storage system, the residential property can store the “green” and emission-free energy from the in-house watercourse despite seasonal icing or on demand. By means of a technical installation consisting of a water turbine and the fuel cell, all winter challenges have been passed with flying colors since 2019. Thanks to the innovative technology from Proton Motor, the house residents live in cozy warmth and are continuously supplied with renewable electricity.

Bayern Innovativ honored this commitment of the Puchheim engineers with the Top 25 rating, for which it was awarded the prize for the production of a corporate advertising film.
In the now completed video, over two minutes long, Torsten Urban from the project sponsor points to the long-term partnership with the Bavarian high-tech address.
The two Proton Motor managing directors Sebastian Goldner (CFO & CTO) and Manfred Limbrunner (Sales & Marketing) will moderate production, system examples and possible applications as hydrogen fuel cell experts. Both emphasize the important sustainable contribution that the Proton Motor product portfolio makes to achieving the energy transition and climate targets and thus to protecting planet earth.
