- Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus (SCG) has unveiled a concept for a new hydrogen bug for the Baja 1000.
The new sports car will be more than just another off-road racing version of the Boot SUV, but also an eco-friendly, hydrogen-powered racing variant. The prototype is called the Glickenhaus Hydrogen Fuel Cell Boot and is set to start the SCORE International Baja 1000 race at the end of 2022.
SCG Boot has been participating in the famous Baja 1000 race since 2019 and the team’s crew have won the Class 2 classification twice . After moving to  Class 1, SCG finished only seventh, becoming the last competitor to complete the 1226.35-mile distance.
So far, the new Glickenhaus Hydrogen Fuel Cell Boot exists only in the form of renders. The novelty differs from the  SCG Boot with a modernized body. In the front of the car there is now no hood and fenders, but a spare wheel flaunts. There is a massive fuel tank at the back. The tank at a temperature of minus 252.87 degrees Celsius will store a supply of liquefied hydrogen to power the engine.
Unfortunately, the automaker did not provide any new information about the new product. At the moment, in addition to the Boot SUV, the company’s model range includes the SCG 003 supercar and the 004S mid-engined sports car .
