Fuel Cells Works, Tank & Rast and H2 Mobility Partner to Develop Hydrogen Stations in Germany

Bonn–Tank & Rast joins the world’s largest hydrogen filling station operator H2 MOBILITY Germany as an associated partner. H2 MOBILITY currently operates 88 of 91 H2 filling stations in Germany in seven metropolitan areas (Hamburg, Berlin, Rhine-Ruhr, Frankfurt, Nuremberg, Stuttgart and Munich) as well as along the connecting highways and motorways, 15 more stations are currently under construction.

With the ramp-up of hydrogen commercial vehicles, H2 MOBILITY is also expanding its range for other pressure levels and fueling quantities.

For Tank & Rast, this is a promising field, since with the expected increasing dynamics of hydrogen-based heavy goods traffic, there will also be an increased need for the corresponding infrastructure along the motorway. For Tank & Rast, the partnership is a logical step on the way to the rest stops of tomorrow. The focus is on the strategic further development of the locations and their provision of relevant drive energy in the future. The possible supply of hydrogen for use in fuel cell commercial vehicles could sensibly complement the existing fast charging infrastructure for battery electric vehicles.

“The cooperation with H2 MOBILITY is now the next step on the way to climate-friendly mobility,” explains Peter Markus Löw, CEO of the Tank & Rast Group: “By joining H2 MOBILITY, Tank & Rast is underlining its commitment to sustainable mobility on German motorways . Hydrogen will gain in importance, especially in heavy goods traffic, and we want to be part of the project to develop efficient and comprehensive hydrogen infrastructure for fuel cell trucks. ”
