The World Hydrogen 2023 Awards sponsored by BOSS Energy Consulting, took place on the evening of 9th May 2023 at a ceremony held in the Rotterdam Ahoy during the World Hydrogen 2023 Summit & Exhibition, with 6 winners recognised in different categories for their fantastic contribution to the hydrogen industry.

The Green Hydrogen Project Award went to The H2Global Instrument by H2Global Stiftung & HINT.CO GmbH, Germany, for the launch of its first tender procedure for the procurement of green ammonia, green methanol and e-SAF for import into Europe.

The Hydrogen Industrial Application Award was awarded to Air Products & World Energy’s for their $2 Billion Conversion of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Production Facility in Southern California. The LA Country facility will be the world’s first commercial scale and North America’s only SAF production facility. Its total fuel capacity will be expanded to 340 million gallons annually.

The Future Hydrogen Leader Award was awarded to Kiruthika Sadagopan Green Energy – Strategy, Partnerships & BD – Green Hydrogen/Electrolysers at Larsen & Toubro. As a young “Intraprenuer” she was responsible for initiation, incubation and start-up of Green Hydrogen Business Venture at Larsen & Toubro, an Indian Multinational Conglomerate. Kiruthika has been a pivotal industry contributor/consultant in policy making and in development of India’s National Hydrogen Policy.

The Hydrogen Transport Award went to ZeroAvia for being the first hydrogen-powered 19-seat flight. In January 2023, ZeroAvia completed its first flight of a Dornier 228, 19 seat with a fuel cell, zero-emission engine powering the left side.

The Port of the Future Award went to the Port of Rotterdam for a third consecutive year, for implementing the world biggest infrastructure for hydrogen and its derivatives import and distribution, international cooperation.

The Hydrogen Person of the Year Award was awarded to Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission. For the launch of a range of hydrogen programmes, including EU Clean Hydrogen Alliance, EU Hydrogen Strategy, Repower EU, European Green Deal, RED II, Hydrogen Valley Tender and more.
